spagyric : ウィキペディア英語版
spagyric
A spagyric is an herbal medicine produced by alchemical procedures. These procedures involve fermentation, distillation and the extraction of mineral components from the ash of the plant. These processes were in use in medieval alchemy generally for the separation and purification of metals from ores (see Calcination), and salts from brines and other aqueous solutions.
==Etymology==
Origin: Greek: from spao = I collect and ageiro = I extract.〔John Craig, ''A New Universal Etymological, Technological and Pronouncing Dictionary of the English Language,'' Volume 2, London: G H Collins, 1849, p.730〕〔Alexander Reid, ''A Dictionary of the English Language,'' New York: D Appleton & Co, 1845, p.383, p.476, p.516〕 It is a term probably first coined by Paracelsus. In its original use, the word ''spagyric'' was commonly used synonymously with the word ''alchemy'', however, in more recent times it has often been adopted by alternative medicine theorists and various techniques of holistic medicine.
