swingman A Swingman is a player who can play multiple positions in a sport. == Basketball == In basketball, the term "swingman" (aka "guard-forward") denotes a player who can play both the small forward (the "3") and shooting guard (the "2") positions, and, in essence ''swing'' between the positions.〔S. Trnini and D. Dizdar, ''System of the Performance Evaluation Criteria Weighted per Positions in the Basketball Game'', 2000〕 Swingmen are often between 6'4" (1.93 m) and 6'9" (2.06 m). The term was first applied to John Havlicek. Examples of current swingmen include: Paul Pierce, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Andrew Wiggins, Danny Green, Kyle Korver, Vince Carter, Justise Winslow, Terrence Ross, Joe Johnson, Andre Iguodala, Evan Turner, Nick Young, C.J. Miles, Thabo Sefolosha, and Arron Afflalo. Examples of retired NBA swingmen include Rick Barry, George Gervin, Clyde Drexler, Tracy McGrady, and Michael Jordan.
