The tressym first appeared in second edition for the Forgotten Realms setting in the adventure module ''Haunted Halls of Eveningstar'' (1992). The tressym also appeared in the revised ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting'' (1993),〔Greenwood, Ed. ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting'' (TSR, 1993)〕 and reprinted in ''Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume One'' (1994) under the "cat, winged" entry.
The tressym appeared for third edition for the Forgotten Realms setting in the ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting'' (2001),〔Greenwood, Ed, Sean K. Reynolds, Skip Williams, and Rob Heinsoo. ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting'' (Wizards of the Coast, 2001)〕 and ''Lost Empires of Faerûn'' (2005).〔Baker, Richard; Ed Bonny; and Travis Stout.
