Ēosturmōnaþ (modern English: ''Ēostre’s month'') was the Anglo-Saxon name for the month of April.〔Cockayne, Thomas. "The shrine: a collection of occasional papers on dry subjects" p.69〕 The name was recorded by the Anglo-Saxon scholar Bede in his treatise ''De temporum ratione'' (The Reckoning of Time), saying "Eostur-Monath, which we now interpret as the Easter month, comes from (goddess ) ''Eostre''. We now call the Paschal season by her name, thereby referring to the joys of the new festival with the ancient designation.”〔(Chapter XV, De mensibus Anglorum. ) ''"Eostur-monath, qui nunc paschalis mensis interpretetur, quondam a dea illorum quae Eostre vocabatur, et cui in illo festa celebrabant, nomen habuit, a cuius nomine nunc paschale tempus cognominant; consueto antiquae observationis vocabulo gaudia novae solemnitatis vocantes.”''〕 ==See also== *Germanic calendar *Anglo-Saxon *Old English 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Ēosturmōnaþ」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
