Mem (also spelled Meem or Mim) is the thirteenth letter of the Semitic abjads, including Phoenician Mēm 12px, Hebrew Mēm , Aramaic Mem 10 px, Syriac Mīm (unicode:ܡܡ), and Arabic Mīm . Its value is .

Mem is believed to derive from the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol for water, N35 which had been simplified by the Phoenicians and named after their word for water, ''mem'' (15px), ultimately coming from Proto-Semitic
